This is a steeeeep learning curve and something I will need to devote my Professional Development towards in the future! Working in Kindergarten I have heard alot about minecraft but had never played! After this class I had my nephew walk me through his world and how he navigates it and plays with his friends. I was amazed by how much information he knew about a game and building in just a few short months of playing. I can see how this could be used as a tool for learning. I can see how Teachers can use this not only as a tool to connect with students but as a writing prompt, science investigations, social study connections, as well as art and other applied skills.
I had not known that there was an educational version of Mindcraft and I needed to investigate what a server was needed for (actually had to research what a server was). I know that when we had ipads in our classroom that it was difficult for us to get access to some apps and we had to constantly get the apps put on to the ipad from the Tech department. It made it difficult as we had to put in a request and it could take many weeks. I feel that teachers should have access to these servers and apps when needed.
I was also interested to learn about other gaming apps that teachers can use to quiz or do review with students. I have not seen this before! I am eager to see it in action and see how effective it is. I know in my post secondary years I have used many online study apps.
